Overnight flight to London. ![]() Day 2 - Arrive London After checking into your hotel the rest of your day is at leisure. Hotel: Park Plaza County Hall Day 3 - London – Runnymede – Salisbury – Stonehenge – Bideford This morning we drive to Runnymede and then through Windsor Great Park catching a glimpse of Windsor Castle. We continue to Salisbury to view its magnificent cathedral. Then we drive to Salisbury Plain to visit the mysterious monoliths of Stonehenge. Finally we travel past Exmoor marking our arrival in the West Country where we head to the ancient seaport of Bideford. Tonight we will enjoy a Welcome Drink and Dinner with our Tour Director and travelling companions. (Continential breakfast / Dinner) Hotel: Durrant House Day 4 - Bideford – Clovelly – Tintagel – Plymouth (2 nights) First we visit the steeply cobbled village of Clovelly with loveable donkeys and picturesque Devon cottages. Then on to Cornwall via the little medieval harbour of Boscastle to Tintagel for views of the ruined castle. Back into Devon we enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea and then make our way to the naval port of Plymouth. Here we see the Mayflower steps from which the Pilgrim Fathers set sail to America and the citadel overlooking Plymouth Sound, and have the chance to enjoy a cruise around the harbour. (Full breakfast) Hotel: Jurys Inn (2 nights) Day 5 - Cornish Excursion We drive along the rugged Cornish coastline past smugglers’ coves and quaint fishing villages to Land’s End, the most westerly point of the British mainland. Then to St. Ives, the famous artists’ colony. Later views of St. Michael’s Mount near Penzance before a drive across Bodmin Moor and our Tour Director will show us a Hidden Treasure. (Full breakfast) Day 6 - Plymouth – Bath – Bristol We travel through the rugged Dartmoor National Park to Glastonbury where we visit the abbey ruins and see the legendary burial site of King Arthur. Then we see Cheddar Gorge before continuing to the city of Bath where we visit the Roman Baths and see the magnificent Georgian architecture. We overnight in maritime Bristol where we enjoy a Farewell Dinner tonight. (Full breakfast / Farewell dinner) Hotel: Marriott City Centre Day 7 - Bristol – Avebury – Hampton Court – London We leave the city of Isambard Kingdom Brunel and drive to see Britain’s largest and most ancient stone circle of Avebury. On our way back into London we will stop to see the gardens at Hampton Court Palace. Say goodbye to your Tour Director and new-found friends as you are taken to your Trafalgar London hotel and our tour comes to an end. A boat trip around the harbour of one of England’s most famous seaports. View the Mayflower steps where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America, and ships sailed for Australia, New Zealand and Newfoundland. See panoramic vistas of Plymouth Hoe, site of Drake’s legendary game of bowls. Into the Royal Navy Dockyard and a chance to see some of the modern vessels of the Royal Navy. A descriptive commentary is given by the skipper. 10 (£) GB107 - Bristol Guided Tour Tour Bristol with a local guide and learn about the city’s many links with America and its long maritime history. See the S.S. Great Britain, the world’s first iron transatlantic liner and marvel at the Clifton Suspension Bridge, both designed by the great Victorian engineer, Brunel. Among many of the highlights we will see the St. Mary Redcliffe church. Finally we will be enlightened as to the origin of the mysterious saying ‘Cash on the Nail’ – vital clues will be revealed to us during our exploration of this important British city! 9 (£) GB115 - PLYMOUTH. Forgotten Cornwall & Dinner Leaving the hotel we head down to the oldest part of Plymouth, 'Stonehouse'. Here we leave the coach and take a 7 minute ferry ride across the River Tamar to Cornwall and the village of Cremyll. Dinner tonight is in the old Cornish inn, the Edgcumbe Arms, situated 25 yards from the ferry pier. Enjoy a 3 course meal, with a main course from the Carvery, or why not have a traditional meal of 'Fish and Chips'. After dinner we will rejoin our touring coach to take a drive along the beautiful coast known as 'Rame Head', for stunning views, before returning to Plymouth via the Torpoint car ferry. 26 (£) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Child Prices: Apply to children under the age of 16.
